Vista sp1 installation failure
So, I manually downloaded and launched Windows6. Other info: The system event viewer recorded the many error logs ID of failure incidents of setting into Staged state on many different packages. All of them had the same error code: 0xf Wednesday, April 16, AM. Yes I finally got it to run. It was painful cause I screwed up the first time. What I found was the hard drive had some disk errors that could not be fixed by Windows 'check for errors' or running file system check either, they did flag errors however.
So I made sure I had everything backed up and re-formatted my hard drive then here is where I screwed up, make sure you do restore before trying to get SP1. After I restored and applied all updates finally SP1 installed great. Now there are no problems. I've got the same Windows Servicing errors But I don't feel like reinstalling Vista, that costs too much time, there must be a solution!
Monday, August 11, AM. Hello I believe that the problem is that you started to perform the automatic updates, thats why the service pack installation failed, the best method is to continue using the automatic update or reinstall Vista and perform the service pack installation right after you reinstall Vista. Clear instructions. Easy to follow. No jargon. It usually takes a lot of time for this tool to finish processing. So please be patience. If prompted by UAC click on Run, then Yes if administrator or type in administrator's password if standard user. You will now see a elevated command prompt open and run.
When it's finished, it will close automatically. Always, always clealy state or re-state the fail exception code you get and confirm if you were re-applying the standalone service-pack or whether it was the online one. I had to reinstall my vista 64 bit last week and I went through the updates and so far only one has failed KB which is 'recommended' gives me error code FFFF.
I'm trying to install sp1 and it fails every time. If I install through windows update, it says it's successful but never says it's installed and keeps showing sp1 in windows update if I re-check for updates. I downloaded the standalone exe and it goes through the install process only to tell me after step 3 of 3 completes that the service pack did not install and it's reverting. I tried running the windows update readiness tool and microsoft fix it to no avail.
Fix it tells tells me windows update isn't configured properly and I click to have it fix it for me, but it shows up everytime I run the scan.. I'm not sure what the problem is since I had everything successfully updated to sp2 on this machine a month ago. Many thanks to anyone who can help!!
